What surprised me the most is his writing: in late 1980s or early 90s, he came to New York and the New York Times published one of his writing or diary (?), which to me, like a grade school level. Guess a few decades changed all that. Or a good editor.
In the book, he often referred to, ‘my wife’, ‘Melinda’. Given the publication date so close to his announcement of divorcing, I wondered what was he thinking when he mentioned her often in the book? Maybe it was a good partnership …
His indiscretion made me think an off broadway show, in the 90s, Jackie O. The background was Bill Clinton’s indiscretion with the blue dress and his impeachment trial. One of the actors said casually in the show, “the public isn’t interested in politicians sex life” which brought down the house. It was a really good show but didn’t last long, unfortunately.
